Cherry Dog Park

Half dog park, half nature walk, Cherry Park will instantly become your and your dog’s favorite place to hang. The beautiful terrain, diverse spaces, and friendly people make this one of the best off-leash areas in Portland, paws down.
Play Features
Cherry dog park has something for everyone. Whether you walk the path around the entire park, play fetch in the open areas, or socialize with the other owners, there’s always something interesting to do. Technically an unfenced off-leash area, it does have fencing the length of the park on both sides. So once you get in, it feels like an enclosed space.
There’s no water spout, but a generous neighbor puts out gallons of fresh water daily. A single green trash is located at the east end at SE 106th Ave.
Park Vibes
This place is gorgeous. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood, the park boasts a wide range of trees, including fir, fruit, and hazelnut trees, as well as lots of blackberry shrubs. The shade from the tree canopy makes it one of the best spots to go on a hot day. If you want a break from walking the loop, you can take a break on one of the benches and enjoy the scenery.
And though the park sees a steady stream of four-legged visitors all throughout the day, it never feels overwhelmed. There’s always plenty of space to do your own thing, and the vacant lot adjacent to the park is often used for fetch or gathering. People are very friendly, and it’s easy to chat up fellow dog lovers.
Easy Access
Cherry dog park has a few entry points. For the most direct route, take SE Market St. and turn on SE 106th Ave. The street dead-ends right at the dog park. You can also park at the other end on SE 111th Ave. from SE Stephens St., or on SE 110th St. from Division.
Mud Factor
This park is busy rain or shine. The diverse terrain does well overall in the rainy months, though a few spots can become mud puddles. Fortunately, they’re easily avoidable. One thing you should watch out for is coyotes. There’s a small pack or two living in the adjacent quarry, so there’s potential for an encounter. It doesn’t happen very often, just something to keep in mind.
