Across the river from fan-favorite Sellwood dog park, Willamette holds it own with a well-maintained fully fenced off-leash area. Add in a water faucet, river view, and parking lot, and you’ve got a dog park in South Portland worth visiting.

Play Features

Aesthetics and functionality come together in this smartly designed off-leash area. Engaging nature patches provide interesting sniffs, and the flat, bare ground allows for easy movement. In spite of its compact size, there’s plenty of space for a reasonable game of fetch or a good chase around the patches. Fresh running water is available near the north entrance.

Park Vibes

The park overall is often bustling with boaters, cyclists, and joggers. Though the dog park can be pretty relaxed during the week, the puppy scene picks up a bit on weekends. A set of scooping tools sits within in the park, encouraging owners to scoop the poop.

Enjoy the view of the river or have a seat on the picnic table. For more river views, walk the pathway south along the Willamette.

Easy Access

When you pull up on S. Nebraska St., the entrance can be pretty confusing. The dog park is to the left—your eyes do not deceive you. The entrance/exit is a single lane with sidewalks on each side, so proceed with caution. If that doesn’t float your boat, there’s plenty of parking on the other side in the boat ramp lot. Parking is typically paid, but check the signs for hours. No matter which side you come in from, there’s a double-gated entrance with trash outside.

Mud Factor

Even though the surface at Willamette dog park is bare ground, it doesn’t retain too much water in the rainy season. It can get dusty when the weather’s dry and windy.
