The Fields Dog Park

Home to a separate fenced area for small dogs, The Fields is a gem for petite pups in Portland’s Pearl District. The off-leash area has fresh water, a decent surface for the rain, and a number of dog-friendly patios close by. Exactly what downtown dog life needs.
Play Features
The Fields dog park makes the most of its limited square footage. The main off-leash area has just enough room for well-placed Chuckit! throws, and the small dog enclosure offers your pint-size pooch a safe space to roam about. A gate between the two lets you conveniently move back and forth.
The surface is sand and concrete so it doesn’t get muddy in the rainy season, though some poodles do form. Trash cans are located inside the off-leash areas, and fresh water is available from a spout off the fountain in the main enclosure. Poop bags are also available right outside the west gate, as well as all throughout the main park.
Park Vibes
This off-leash area sees a steady stream of activity. It’s easy to socialize with other dogs, and your pup can make new friends most any time of day. Because of its size and location, this dog park can fill up pretty fast, especially on weekends.
Relax on one of the benches and soak up the high-rise and bridge views. The off-leash area is next to the train tracks, which can be noisy, and it can sometimes smell. Good reason to take a leisurely stroll around the main park.
After puppy playtime, check out one of the many dog-friendly patios in the area. Grab a cup of joe across the street at Snow Bunny Coffee or stop for a slice at Pizzicato Pizza.
Easy Access
The Fields dog park is located at the north end of the Pearl District. It’s very walkable from the Alphabet District and just about anywhere downtown. If you’re driving, look for parking near NW Quimby St. and NW 11th Ave. It’s The Pearl, so parking is hard to come by and paid every day.
Once there, you’ll find two double-gated entrances to the larger off-leash area and one to the smaller dog area.
Mud Factor
Because of its sand and concrete surface, The Fields is one of the better Portland dog parks in the rainy season, a puddle or two notwithstanding.
