It’s hot out there for a dog. All that outside play can cause your pup to heat up quickly, even if it doesn’t seem very warm out to you. And because dogs don’t sweat the same way humans do, they need plenty of fresh water to stay cool, especially for those with thicker or dark-colored coats. Fortunately, several of Portland’s off-leash areas are equipped with drinking stations to keep your furry friend hydrated and ready to play. Here are all of the Portland dog parks with water:

Mt. Tabor

Lents may not be the biggest Portland dog park with water, but it has everything your pup needs to have a great time. Situated just west of the community garden, the water spout is easy to operate and has an attached metal dish. The flow can be a little strong, so use with caution.

The Fields dog park in the Pearl District features two separate enclosures, with one exclusively for small dogs. Fresh water comes from the combination drinking fountain/spout inside the larger off-leash area. Hydration is key here as this dog park doesn’t have any trees to keep things shaded, so dogs can get really hot on sunny days, even when the temps aren’t that high.

East Holladay dog park doesn’t technically have water, but a fountain with a doggy dish sits just outside the fenced off-leash area, steps from the south entrance. And when it comes to fresh running water, who’s complaining? There’s usually another bowl inside the play area that you can fill up so your pup can stay hydrated without having to exit the dog park (although you will have to step out for refills).

Creston dog park in Southeast Portland has two seasonal off-leash areas: a nicely shaded one just for the summer months and one for the rest of the year. Though the water fountain isn’t inside either of them (and a little far from the designated summer area), it’s still good to know that fresh H2O is close by. You’ll find it next to the east bathrooms, with a doggy bowl and spout at the bottom of the fountain.
