Normandale isn’t just one fenced dog park. It’s three separate fully enclosed off-leash areas, with one exclusively for small dogs 25 pounds and under. There’s abundant shade, two water spouts, and a parking lot – everything your pup needs to have a blast. And one of the larger pens is covered in sand for a mud-free experience during the wetter months. No wonder this doggy hotspot is always bustling with action.

Chimney is the biggest fenced dog park in Portland by far. With over five and a half acres of fully enclosed space, this off-leash area is a destination not to be missed. It’s perfect for any activity, whether your pup’s into playing fetch, socializing, or sniffing around. Just be sure to bring a towel for the mud in the rainy season as the ground can get a little sloppy.

Gabriel
SW 45th Ave. and SW Vermont St.
Gabriel Park has two separate off-leash areas: arguably Portland’s best summer fenced dog park and a very reliable winter park. At the summer dog park, your pup will love the spacious room to be free. This off-leash gets lots of activity at all times, making it a great for social play. There’s not too much shade, but there is a water spout inside the off-leash area.
Gabriel’s winter dog park, on the other hand, is the perfect refuge for the rainy season thanks to its mud-preventing sandy surface. There’s no water at the winter park, so bring your own if your pup needs a refreshment.

Not too far from Gresham, Lynchwood is easily one of the best fenced dog parks in Portland. Spanning the length of a football field, the open off-leash area is ideal for energetic dogs that excel in an enclosed space. The flat, grassy dog yard gets a lot of regular visitors, and it’s an excellent spot for social play, fetch, or just sniffing around. Wallace is everyone’s favorite dog park in Northwest Portland. With a steady flow of four-legged traffic, this midsize enclosure is a the spot for your dog to make new friends pretty much any time of day. The off-leash area is mostly open, there’s fresh running water to cool things off, and fellow parkgoers are nice. Plus, all the dog-friendly restaurant and bar options nearby make this the perfect place to visit on a day out with your best friend.

Looking for a fenced dog park in Portland with a view? There’s none better than Luuwit View. You can see Mount St. Helens and the southern Cascades in the distance, as well as airplanes flying into PDX. Dog owners are friendly, and the vibe is pretty chill overall. In addition, the off-leash area has lots of sniffing spots as well as a spout with fresh running water. And you can park out front of the off-leash area in the parking lot.

S Macadam Ave. and S Nebraska St.
The first thing you’ll notice about Willamette is how well cared for the off-leash area is. The grounds are exceptionally clean and the landscaping is unlike any other dog park in town. Enjoy the view of the Willamette River while your dog explores the area. The bare surface stays in pretty good shape in the rainy season, but can get somewhat dusty when dry. There’s a water spout and a convenient parking lot right at the dog park’s north entrance, though you do have to pay.

Northeast Portland’s best-kept secret, East Holladay is a tranquil spot to let your dog loose. The fully fenced off-leash area doesn’t get too many visitors, so your pup can roam free or play fetch without many distractions. There’s a water fountain just outside the south entrance, which is crucial since the enclosure doesn’t offer much shade.

The Fields

Apartment living in the Pearl District can be ruff for dogs. Luckily, you don’t have to go far to find the perfect place to get all their pent-up energy out. The Fields dog park consists of two separate fenced enclosures: one for small dogs and one for everyone. Although both off-leash areas are on the smaller side, there’s just enough room to work up a good pant. And a steady stream of visitors from the surrounding Northwest neighborhoods means your pup will always have someone to play with. The sand and concrete surface holds up pretty well in the rainy season, and the larger enclosure has a water fountain. There’s also some great dog-friendly patios just blocks away.

Sacajawea may not be the prettiest dog park in town, but it does have a lot going for it. The fenced off-leash area offers nearly one and a half acres of running room, and there’s fresh water to keep your pup cool in the heat. Park regulars are friendly, and you can see planes making their descent in to PDX in the distance. Unfortunately, there’s no shade in the summer, and the ground can get really muddy in the rainy season.

A compact yet open fenced dog park, Cully has all the amenities that pups need for a great time. The grass is flat and well maintained, and a water pump keeps things cool. Because the park is not in a dense residential area, the off-leash area can be pretty quiet. Of course, that could certainly be a bonus if you want to avoid crowds. Bathrooms are located next to the playground, and a convenient parking lot puts you steps from the entrance. However, there’s little to no street parking nearby if the lot is full.
